SOCIAL MEDIA PUBLIC USE POLICY

The intention of all Social Media Accounts established by the Port of Edmonds is to provide the community with updated Port information and offer a safe environment for community conversation. While the Port welcomes comments, please be advised that Port staff does not generally respond to comments. Please note that any interaction by or with the Port on its Social Media Accounts (including, but not limited to, shares, likes, and follows) is not to be intended as an endorsement by the Port. All comments made on the Port of Edmonds Social Media Accounts are public with no expectation of privacy by the person or entity commenting.  The Port’s Social Media Accounts are subject to the Public Records Act, Chapter 42.56 RCW

The Port of Edmonds reserves the right to remove any comment or post that does not abide by The Port’s public use policy, or the terms of use and/or community guidelines established by the applicable social media website. The Port’s social media pages are not the proper place to express opinions or beliefs not directly related to the topic being discussed. The Port reserves the right to remove comments or posts if it discovers them to be: threats, explicit or obscene remarks, suggestive or encouraging of illegal activity, or hate speech of any form. The Port’s social media pages are not the appropriate place to promote or oppose any person campaigning for election to a political office or any ballot proposition. The Port of Edmonds does not allow solicitations or advertisements; this includes promotion or endorsement of any financial, commercial or non-governmental agency. Similarly, the Port does not allow attempts to defame or defraud any financial, commercial or non-governmental agency.

The Port of Edmonds reserves the right to deactivate any of its social media accounts at any time, without prior notice.

Public Comment Policy: The comments and opinions expressed by followers of the Port’s Social Media Accounts are theirs alone and do not reflect the opinions of the Port of Edmonds and/or its employees. The Port of Edmonds expects all comments to be relevant and respectful. Comments are reviewed by the Port after posting. Comments will not be edited by the Port of Edmonds, but the Port does reserve the right to remove a comment from its page if the comment does not meet the standards of the Social Media Public Use Policy.

Public Disclosure: The Port’s Social Media accounts are only provided to facilitate general communication. Communications made through the Port’s Social Media Accounts will in no way constitute a legal or official notice or comment to the Port of Edmonds or any official or employee of the Port of Edmonds for any purpose.
