Did you know that?
Recycling just one aluminum can saves half a gallon of gasoline or can power your TV for three hours.
This is just one of the many reasons why it’s important to recycle. Other reasons are:
• It conserves our valuable natural resources
• It saves energy
• It saves landfill space
• It saves money and creates jobs

UPDATES TO RECYCLING PROGRAMS IN 2011
The Port’s current recycling program for Bottles, Cans, and Mixed Paper has served us fairly well since the early 1990’s. However, much has changed since then with the way recyclables are handled. Sound Disposal recommended that the Port transition to a commingled recycling system and have proposed a 1 year pilot program. In March 2011, this was implemented. This means that it will no longer be necessary for you to separate each recyclable product. New “commingling recycling” receptacles are located at various places throughout the facility.

You will find a Green with Blue Lid 90 gallon recycling tote next to the garbage dumpster where you usually deposit your garbage. You can place Clean and Empty, BOTTLES (glass and plastic), CANS (aluminum and tin), and MIXED PAPER (newspaper and flattened cardboard) into the tote to be recycled.

In addition, we will be placing Blue Recycling Containers along the promenade next to the existing garbage containers.

In the meantime, when in doubt - - throw it out! You can help us keep garbage costs down by making sure that you don’t contaminate the recycling containers. DO NOT DEPOSIT FOOD OR “FOOD SOILED MATERIAL” OR GARBAGE IN THE RECYCLE CONTAINERS!   Click here for a list of items to recycle.

For more information or for any questions you may have related to our programs, feel free to contact the Marina Operations staff at 425-775-4588. We encourage you to recycle! For refuse, please remember that containers are only for the disposal of wastes generated on Port property. Household and business wastes are not to be disposed of in Port waste containers. Thank you for recycling!
