Because the Port is governed by Commissioners who are elected by the residents of Edmonds and Woodway, it is important to maintain a strong public communication program.  There are a number of ways in which the public can learn about, and become more involved in, the Port of Edmonds.

All Port Commission meetings are open to the public, and all include a time for public questions and comments.  Port Commission meetings are held on the second and last Mondays of the month starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Port of Edmonds building right next to the marina.

Most major activities of the Port are regularly reported in the Edmonds Beacon and/or the Enterprise Papers.  In general, Port Commission discussions are announced in advance of any decisions, so that members of the public have the opportunity to discuss all proposed actions directly with Commissioners.

The Port publishes a newsletter that is mailed once a year to all Port District households.  Marina tenants receive a newsletter every month.

Some development issues may be put to a vote of the District’s residents, particularly those projects involving significant tax funds and/or major community impacts.
